Hi,

I am changing some communal stair lighting in a block of offices and they want them to be on PIR sensors.
Does anyone know of a product that uses just a master PIR that you wire into the switch line for all the lights, and then a wireless sensor i can fit at each level that will active the master if walked past, to turn all the lights on?
Just trying to get around having to chase all the walls and link the sensors with cable?
Thanks
J

Hi Jel I just Googled "Wireless PIRs" and was nearly killed in the rush. There are too many to mention. I never thought of that so it's quite useful to know that they exist.

Have a google

I just thought of a slight disadvantage. They are battery operated so will need a battery change periodically.

why not just link out switches and blank off, and install PIR at each light fitting

Ive just fitted some to a camera system, the batteries will give a good 3yrs, your issue is you'll need a receiver which you can get with as many ways as needs (relays) that operate to their addressed sensor .... now the down fall is they work on a line of sight system for best results so if the PIR are in view of the receiver then no probs, its when you start wanting to go through walls etc that signal can diminish and create intermittent signal blinding.

Next for a good system you are looking at an expensive deal that will usually cost more than the labour of wiring them, although they are quick and easy to set up from an installation point of view its whether the customer see's the benefits of no' decor' intrusion weighed up against the extra expense.

Is that like the old redwall system?

The camera install and the PIR system was a one off for me so can't relate to redwall you mention, all it was was a cam dome with 4 zone NC/NO alarm inputs that i had linked to a radio receiver been signalled by PIR's, on detection of any passing heat source the camera will look at that area.
