Wireless Programmable Thermostat wiring help

Hi all,

Today I found myself attempting to wire up an ESI ESRTP4RF Wireless programmable room thermostat to an Ideal Standard combi boiler. I believe it is now wired up correctly as the heating is coming on and off when I have it on manual and raise the room temp. I just need to put myself at ease with what I've done so I need someone to check the diagram below.

There's a lot of exposed copper in there.

based on the pictures it appears to be very badly installed and not in compliance with the wiring regulations.

cables are temporary to get it working. the main confusion was no conductor identification on the boiler room stat/timer terminals. I wasn't sure which of these goes to com, normally open or normally closed.

also you've broken gas safety laws, cant remove the case / cover to a gas appliance unless your gas safe

as for boiler side easy way to test which one is which one will be live all the time

Room stat terminals on your boiler just "make" and "break" as per diagram A.
So it would make no difference if the room stat wires were reversed.

Some boilers send a 230v volts out through these auxially terminals, some are volt free or a lower voltage.
Your find all wireless room stats give you volt free terminals because it's a universal solution. And links can be put in if needed.

When you say temporary do you mean just wired it up like this while you were working out how it works, or temporary as in your sort it out tommorow

The boiler manufacturer can’t predict which controls you are going to fit and mark their terminals to suit, there are many different thermostats and controls which often have different terminal labelling.
Your thermostat is clearly marked as to the function of each terminal and the boiler manual clearly identifies the type of connection to external controls and how it should be connected.

Could you be a bit more specific as to exactly which clause in which law you are referring to please. Having read through the relevant law a couple of times looking for it I haven’t yet been able to find it.

That doesn’t answer my question, it’s a link to a third party interpretation of the law. What I asked for is a reference to the law.

no it's not...The CPC isn't connected, there is no strain relief and the termination itself leaves a lot to be desired.

apart from that...

black to com and grey to N/O normally open on the receiver.
