Hi, I have one of those cooker switches which has a single socket built into it. The cooker switch itself should has a 45a fuse at the consumer unit. Picture below

I want to fit a new cooker hood/extractor. The old one I've always used it by plug it into the socket. The problem
with that is that it looks ugly and even if i chase the flex into the wall I would have to bring it out again before reaching the plug.

What I want to know is... can I just join the cooker hood cable with the cooker cable?

Is it any chance of it being dangerous to have a cooker hood cable joint with a cooker circuit?

Thanks in advance.

Don't connect the hood to the cooker switch. End of.

Cooker hoods typically require fusing down to 3A - check the manufacturers instructions. With a plug, it will (hopefully) have a 3A fuse fitted. Alternatively you can connect it to a fused connection unit, again with the correct size of fuse.

and fed from a local socket circuit, not from the cooker point.

It does exist a socket which has the cooker switch and one switch with fuse where to attach cooker hood cable?

Oh dear oh dear. I really would get an electrician in. Daz
