i have been told the cable running inbetween two 50amp fuses should be 16mm i cant fathom this as a 6mm swa cable is rated to 62 amps, am i missing something here?
thankyou for your time

Hi - reading Table 4D4A for multicore armoured the biggest number shown is 53A. So my internet design thought is 10 might be ok, but 16 will be :) .
I am having a dense moment trying to understand the drawing though - it looks a bit like a fused neutral (?) or is that another phase? (on the LHS labelled C)

It's 3-phase heater bank paralleled up for single-phase. It is intended for operation on either 230V single-phase L-N, or 230V delta-derived single-phase where both wires are lines and both need fusing. This was a common system in mainland Europe that we never used in the UK.

If there was three phase supply available and someone who knows what they were doing on that job, you could reduce your conductor sizes considerably.

Assuming there is neither, if you have been told to run 16mm then run 16mm. 10mm could be fine but only under certain conditions. As already said this may have been specified following design calcs. Ze, Rating factors (ambient temp , grouping, thermal insulation etc) & cable length will all have a bearing on cable selection. It is not just simple current carrying capacity of cable clipped direct each time. If you can't calc it then run what you have been specified to.

thankyou for all your quick replies. im not a spark i just wanted a second opinion as this is the 3rd wiring diagram the company has sent me and the other 2 had errors on so before i payed someone to come in and do the work i wanted to be sure it was correct, it is a sauna oven with a conversion from single phase to 3 phase, again thankyou all very much at putting my mind at ease
