good shout on the standard plugs, but as a separate point, I would be interested who supplied this equipment with bare ends, given it's been a legal requirement for years to supply all equipment pre-fitted with a plug meeting the correct standards.
Even charity shops have to meet all the requirements which means they are often put off selling second hand electricals.
 
I haven’t seen one of those things in years, I thought (hoped) they been banned.

To be fair they weren't that bad. They were fused and had cable restraint. Better than block type adaptors, but not as good as good old fashioned individual 13A plugs.
 
They're swings and roundabouts for me. They're not ideal but with 4 separate plugs it's highly unlikely there's 4 separate sockets so you invariably need a 4 into 1 trailing adapter or a couple of those travel type block things that allow 2 plugs into one socket and with cables exiting in various directions they tend hang at a peculiar angle partially unplugged which also isn't ideal.
