I did Jury service once for some sausage.
He was up for being the driver for an armed bank robbery.
He was caught because he went to Salford Crown Court to see one of his mates being done for something else, and he was recognised and arrested :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:
10 years he got after the Jury's deliberations of about 30 seconds!

You don't get much of a choice, but at least you can get insurance to cover the loss of earnings.

It was an interesting experience, I got called for two cases.
You're screwed if you don't get called up though, two weeks sat in a room twiddling your thumbs!

I know someone who was called up for jury service and wrote a letter back saying he probably wasn't the best choice of character to sit on a jury as he didn't hold the justice system and police in the highest regard. It went down like a lead balloon but he didn't have to do it lol.

Only up to a limit. I got called up at Snaresbrook CC. Was lucky for me really because I had just had an operation on my hand and I was going to be out of work anyway. But being SE it at least meant I got paid. If my memory serves me well it was only about £50 per day.

I got three cases thankfully. One of which was presided by Cherie Booth (she used her maiden name) with a gang of armed policemen out side her chambers.
