How young can you be graded as technician?

How young and how soon after you qualify as an electrician can you become a installation technician?

I'm currently doing my nvq level 3 and i should finish it by july.
Waiting for my 2391-10 results..
If i pass im going to enroll on the 2391-20

Do you need the support of your current employer?

You will most likely find the JIB will want a few years experience behind you and also support from either the post your in now or previous posts you have held.

Off the top of my head the JIB requirement is that you have to held an Approved Electrician grading for 10 Years. I could be wrong but dont expect a big jump in your rate.

i've read on the jib website that you need a design qualification and support of present employer, is that it? no age limits?

Need to be approved first. And that requires two years experience as a qualified electrician before getting that.

There are no age limits on any of the JIB grades, just qualifications, experience and support from an employer or someone that can vouch for you.

The platinum JIB technician cards as a minimum requires the 2391-20 exam. Then there is a minimum of 5 years as an approved electrician. So no age limit but quite a lot of experience required.

I thought it was 5 years as Approved before Technician, but then you had to have done an Apprenticeship before they allowed Approved.

for a site technician it requires you to have experience and to be approved for 5 years

but an installation technician it does not say?

Well just seems for the second you need the support of your current employer ..................Have you contacted the JIB ans asked?

I sent them an e-mail earlier, whether or not they will reply is another matter lol
