Hi guys, just want a quick sanity check on an installation.

a chap wants 3, 3Kw heaters wired with a programmable thermostat to control all 3 heaters.

my thoughts are:

40A supply to a Contactor ( L-1, N-3)

heaters connected to the contactor ( L-2, N-4)

then a Perm live to the thermostat common, return to Contactor A1, and a neutral to A2.

this should work should it not? Or is there a better way.

cheers

I would be more inclined to use 3 x 16A radials broken through separate contractors with the control circuit linked across the coils.

Sanity check? There ain't much sanity in your plan. Do I detect a hint of fishing for us to do your design for you as you're out of your depth on a job?

or, run a 40A to a 4 pole contactor. then 3 x 16A radials, 1 from each pole. each heater on a 13A FCU to protect the 2.5mm from contactor to each heater.
