can anyone help with the connection for the switched live from the bathroom fan in this fuse box. it is the unconnected yellow wire with a red sleeve and i assume it goes into the top right OUT connection with the single red wire. Thanks in advance

no way of teling over internet. needs site visit with test gear to determine which conductor does what. it looks a mess and will probably need some reconfigurations, maybe a 3 pole isolator, and critically circuit needs to be RCD protected, and fan manufacturer's instructions followed, e.g. 3A fusing.

That is one of those "Where to start" without being overly negative pictures.

There are a lot of coulds but only one should.

As with the two statements above we could guess but that is not how we like to operate, key here is your safety. From a distance it is impossible to say for sure where it belongs. As in #2 it is a mess and your best option is to seek on site professional help.

thanks for the information. it has a 3a fuse in the box and it is protected at the box in the garage. i think the electrician who wired it in 20 years ago fed the switched live into the fuse box and just cut it off instead of connecting it. think i'll have to get an electrician around.

That is definitely the best option. Let us know the outcome would be good to know.
