Discuss Why you shouldn't let your builder do the wiring... in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

When I see all these videos of builders doing electrics, I actually question how can they make such a mess of the wiring, its almost like they make a real mess on purpose.
Even on my worst day , I would struggle to do such a bad job of wiring a house unless I was doing it really badly on purpose for a joke

I had to sack 2 sets of "electricians" provided by a builder when having my house extended some years ago. They ignored all my requests and just did what they wanted. The final straw was when the builder didn't fix my hall floor properly so I had to lift it the evening before the carpet fitter arrived, and looking under the floor, there was the copper pipe to the first radiator on the heating system, a very hot pipe straight off the boiler, no insulation on it...except for the 2.5 t&e carefully wrapped several times round the pipe...

How about this one on a job a few weeks ago on an eicr at property worth nearly £2M. All driveway lights in t&e through 20mm MDPE pipe. CPCs snipped off. One joint was connected blocks wrapped in tape and silicone direct in the mud. This joint had singles - yes you read that right - going to the light fitting 500mm away through the flower bed.
