NICEIC Certification Scheme NICEIC Skype Assessment because of COVID-19

In fairness they were brilliant. A lot of places would have just cancelled on us, but i respect the fact they offered an alternative. And yes, a bit of a shame about the site assessment, even tho it was going to be at my own property and I felt like it could have been carried out over skype...

Auto Elec wanted in Swansea area, Harley Davidson

I had a problem with it a few months back and rectified it. From the ECU there was no ground to the injectors, which is in series with the fuel pump and coils/plugs. After about 2 days of graft I fixed it by splicing a new earth into it and it started right away, but not without problems. The...

    Ring main repair advice

Afternoon. I've recently had a ring main fault where a leg from socket to socket has gone down to earth. All sockets off, continuity testing between each leg and core and found the culprit. Was tripping RCD when turning ring on (kitchen) Anyway, I havent got the option to put a new leg in, so...

Electrical Pump Advise sought for DIY

You should have a data plate on the pump itself, giving you the starting current and the running current, amongst other info. Chances are its tripping on high starting current. Pumps and motors starting current can be 3 to 8 times its operating current. Let us know :)

    solar work round

As said above, you need the 'deep cycle batteries'. They are designed to run to very low voltage and be charged again without impact. Car batteries will be destroyed in a few cycles. 120ah leisure batteries are the babys!

UK RCD TRIPS BUT MCB DOES NOT

I'd be inclined to say you have an earth to neutral fault somewhere. As said above, wet weather. Has anything in the installation changed recently?

That's a great insight, thanks SparkyChick. We are in Swansea. Would love her to have a few unpaid experience days with someone so she can see if its up her street or not. Would this be something that you could possibly help her with, if your local to Cardiff? Shes extremely switched on (excuse...

doing the am2 exam and need some help arghhh!

It's a small section of plastic containment that allows you to take the data cable up through the power cable compartment, providing protection from interference. I can't remember exactly what it was tho as I done mine a few years ago, but it's something like a bit of trunking or conduit yes.
