    SPDs in commercial installs.

Morning all. So, helping to do an install in a commercial premises (going to be building car manifolds and stuff). Now SPDs; I know for domestic it’s optional plus you can do the CRL calc to confirm. My understanding is that (looking at the regs, 443) for commercial you need SPD - am I right? TIA.

    Band equipment and PAT

Evening all. Just been asked to do some PAT for a music festival in June. So, my question is (as only ever done shop things etc), what would band equipment fall under with regards to code of practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment table 7.1? I’m inclined to be...

Documenting new circuits in existing board

Makes sense just documenting installed circuits. I’ll just list them on test sheet etc.

Documenting new circuits in existing board

Evening all. So got a job coming up; adding new circuit to exsiting DB. When I do my very, do I just need to do it for new circuits added, or do I need to list all circuits on the very even though I’m only adding new one? .

    Installing 4mm cable, installation method

Lol. Good comment . If the install had been run up the breeze block wall then round the upstairs brick wall, and then plastered over, clipped direct would have worked. Just want to do the right thing.

    Installing 4mm cable, installation method

Thank you. It’s feeding 3 double sockets and runs through joists with insulation between ceiling and floor. Just didn’t want to be a smart arse ‘who thinks after doing an installers course knows best’. I will discuss this with the seasoned spark...

    Measured kA on electraform EICS

I might have to speak to electraform, maybe measured pfc would make more sense as a name for the column.

    Installing 4mm cable, installation method

Morning all. I’m getting to be a regular poster on here (it is an awesome source of info, thank you all). So, discussing with a seasoned electrician this week (I’m a relative newbie to the trade). So 4mm cable run as a radial on a 32A mcb, now reference method 100 states max current is 27A. They...

    Measured kA on electraform EICS

That makes sense, it’s just it’s naming of the column. Measured kA to me does not mean PFC.

    Measured kA on electraform EICS

Yep, that makes sense: but the form is definitely an EICS, so is it asking me to give an PEFC/PSCC for every circuit. Done the PEFC /PSCC at the DB and that is annotated on the form. Just find it a little baffling.

    Measured kA on electraform EICS

All, evening to you. I’ve started using electraform for doing certs. Doing an EICS and in the test results part there is a column next to measured Zs marked measured kA. I might be being special, but I’m not sure what I’d put in here for each circuit. Looking at my spare manually completed...

    Costings for work etc

All, thank you for the info. I am relatively new’ish (about 2 years working part-time, now full time after leaving the military). It’s all good gen; I just didn’t seem to be getting any follow ups from quotes and thought ‘am I over charging?’. But I do realise if you want the working doing...

    Costings for work etc

Absolutely! I was working on what a fellow tradesman has mentioned. Part of me was thinking more £30-40 for first hour then £20 there atfer. I know I need to factor in getting to customer, testing etc, but thoughts? I’m only doing domestic.

    Costings for work etc

Evening all. So, after speaking with others in the trade, charging £50 for the first hour then £20 there after seemed fair. Am I. Overpricing myself?
