Hi,

I'm trying to find a timer control, or smart switch for a 32A circuit. It is for a hot tub which is expensive to run. I want the hot tub to only heat during the cheap electricity hours overnight.

There are loads of 13A timers on the market, but the only 32A ones I can find are ones that live inside the consumer unit. I bought one, but it doesn't fit.

Do I basically need a more modern consumer unit in order to use this, or am I'm just being stupid and should leave it alone and get an electrician!

Thanks.

I would say you need an electrician. He may well decide to use a timer and contactor in a suitable separate enclosure.

As above. Simple cheap timer will do this to just activate a suitable contactor.
