Bs 5839 part 6 for partnp assesment

Hi guys,
Just a quick question. Got my initial assesment in a few weeks time and noticed in the guide to assesment pack it was recommended to get bs 5839 part 6 if carrkng out smoke alarm work. Just wondering if anyone has had an assesment recently and needed this?

If you are doing design for this type of work you should have it. If you are just installing to spec it probably isn't necessary. It is a lot of money for what it is so check out this link. You don't necessarily need a hard copy if you can prove you have other access to it.
