Sorry this is a bit off topic, But..

About 6 months ago we had to go to a job with water damage. Upstairs pipe burst, lights ect wet.

So we turned up, checked all light fittings ect, reset the Rcd (Whole instalation on one rcd). BANG. Turned the lights off, reset and BANG again!! Narrowed it down to the sockets.
Took every socket off and nothing unusual. Tested for ring, and no Ring on the Live. By now things were getting confusing!

Long story short... It turned out that somebody had tried putting up some shelfs in the kitchen, Hit the cable, trip reset and held ok. Now after the leak, water had TRACKED DOWN THE CABLE (it was in plastic capping) and voila, BANG!

The lady said she had been living there for 20 years and there were never shelves there in her time....Funny how faluts can take so long to appear sometime!
