Earlier this week I bumped into the guitarist out of the last band I was in. He said he'd been approached by one of the pubs we used to play regularly with a view to a one off gig.
So, an exchange of phone numbers, a hastily arranged 5 way conversation and a whole load of p!$$ taking later, the mighty Kained Again are back together after ten years.

I'm probably far too excited at the prospect. Somehow I doubt that it will be a one off

You needing a sound man???? :)

We will Fatha, last time we played the place we hired in a 10K rig and Shev from The Chestwigs to drive it for us.
We were deafening :)
For the uninitiated, a ten kilowatt PA rig is very, very loud. Van Halen played Newcastle City Hall with 14 k

We played City Hall with 600 Watts for the PA which was vocals & Sax only & the back line left to its own devices and we were deafening!! But it was a VERY long time ago when a 100 Watt amp. was colossal!!

Later on I had a PA hire business with 4killowatts, a 24/4/2 desk & a nice collection of AKG and Shure mics. That little enterprise evolved into the Flight Case business and the PA got sold off.

Don't know if you know it fatha but down town there's a pub that's now called Club Sandy or The Mile. It's up Mile End Road, fairly big but 10 k in that place is a record. Shev had a 48 channel desk so we had everything miced up multiple times. He got us a fantastic sound.
Completely over the top but that was how we did things and it's how we'll be doing things again very soon :)
Anyone know where I can hire lasers?

I remember The Mile by name and think I've worked it but remember nothing about it.

Alzheimers rools ok.

I JUST FOUND A PLACE THAT WILL HIRE LASERS :)
£35 for 2, 50 animated paterns. Now all we need is pyrotechnics

There was a bloke in Durham used to hire them and a big Disco set up in the early '80's . Can't remember the full name now, but the last bit was (something) Disco Durham. We built the flightcases for him and there were a lot - and they were big. He had something like a Ford Cargo to cart it all around.

I can't even remember the bloke's name now but lasers were the new thing then.

Edit: the name was maybe Quasar?? ... Not sure - Alzheimer's strikes again.

This is true - Today 5:00pm I went into the kitchen to make a cuppa & switched the light off ......... then wondered why I couldn't see to fill the kettle .......

Seriously, it depends on our health.

Just now she's ill in her pit & has been for 3 days now & I'm not much better.

Today I've had my mate the mechanic out to my Celica cos I wasn't strong enough to get the steering lock off. I couldn't lift the bonnet to connect the battery charger either. The Celica's bonnet is heavy, but even so ..... It's bloody ridiculous.

So in the last week we've had a meeting, booked the first practice and booked a gig. In the mean time I've been looking at a whole lot of gear ----.
I'm seriously considering Ampeg SVT. I have until 24th July to make a decision

Re: So while we're on the subject of mid life crises (see the reliving my youth threa

Great to see you excited about something other than work. Hope you smash it.

Re: So while we're on the subject of mid life crises (see the reliving my youth threa

Would you like a link to a Christmas gig from 2003?

Not a Mesa Boogie then???

I've got a nice old Selmer Constellation 20 with a scorched mains transformer. Replace that & give it a tidy up & new set of valves and it should be just fine :)

There's a bloke down Nottingham way specialises on old valve amp restorations - John Chambers is his name & I have a mind to go see him with this old amp & see what he can do with it.

Did you ever use any of Greg Burman's gear?

To the best of my knowledge Mesa don't make bass gear, I'd love it if they did though. The Selmer renewal would be a great idea Fatha, I've used a Burman set up years ago when an old band was supporting another one. It was a bloody monster, weighed about as much as 3 elephants. Great sound though.

I take it you watched Good Riddance (Time of your life) Most gigs we were all pretty p!$$ed, probably will be that way again too :)

Re: So while we're on the subject of mid life crises (see the reliving my youth threa

It probably won't be what you usually listen to but as long as you bring your sense of humour it'll be fine.

And this is the kind of stuff we used to get up to when we were bored

Please enjoy Kained Again irresponsibly
Roll on 24th July :)

The only film of me and my lot is probably lost in Tyne Tees Television vaults or burned.

Wow mate, I had to take my headphones off, and I could still hear it blasting in the room, and that piano kept on playing right to the end. Good stuff mate.
