hello ,
Just a note to see if anyone been in the same sort of journey as me? I wanted to retrain as an electrician at 40 and on bad advice did a month long short course, was one of the hardest things iv ever done , I couldn’t quite pass the 2394/95 as I just couldn’t learn it all in a month, but I did learn a lot and came out with 2392 inspection and testing and 17 th edition, my plan was to try and get a job as an electricians mate, I did get two jobs one job I found I was paying for the materials as every time I went to the wholesalers they said there was no funds, so I left and started somewhere else worked hard for a month and loved it, but did 2000 miles in my van , when it come to get tying paid the company folded, so I went back to my old job and gave electrics up,after a year I wanted to get back into it so I did the 2365 level 2 and 3 at night school, then relished it would near impossible to do the nvq while not working in the trade,
I then heard of the new lcl domestic installer level 3 course, I went to a place did loads of exams for a week then found out I had to do a portfolio of 3 jobs of my own, iv just handed my last one in and waiting to get it marked,
Hopefully get this passed then at 47 try and get a job
Cheers Craig

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear of your experience but as with every trade there are the good, the bad, and the ugly, of folks to work with. I'm definitely in the ugly category, but try to be good when offering advice. However, as Im not a commercial spark I will have to leave it to others to make useful suggestions to you.

Overall it seems you have been taken advantage of, and ne of the hardest aspects to learn in business is the brutal aspect of staying solvent and not having others leave you to foot the bill.
