Hi,
Has anyone done that one day heating course for Honeywell? Think it's only £40 or so so has to be worth attending!
Was just seeing if anyone's got any feedback about it

"Hello adzberry",
I attended a Honeywell Heating Controls course about 15 Years ago - then it cost £30.00 - But this was not really a Course Fee to make a profit - it was stated to `Cover the course Tutor Fee / Reference Materials and Lunch`.
I think that I also received a `Mini` Multimeter - although this was just really an Advertising `Gimmick` with the Honeywell name on it.
The I Day Course that I attended was `taught` by a Founder Member of the
Institute of Domestic Heating and Environmental Engineers - IDHEE - I favoured this course to support the IDHEE as I was a Member of the Institute - but it was open to Non -Members - although I don`t know offhand whether they still run these Honeywell Heating Controls courses.
Honeywell / the IDHEE / other course providers for Honeywell definitely do NOT try to make Money on these Courses - this is why it may well still only be £40.00 for the Day`s Course.
I found it very good for clarifying what I thought I knew at that time about Heating Controls wiring - at that time they were using actual Wooden Boards with the Controls and Wiring mounted upon them - the wiring was disconnected for Us to then re-wire the controls following the Diagrams.
This MAY have changed dependant on whether You are going to a Honeywell Training Centre - or to a location where the Tutor will have to take the Training Devices / Boards [?] to the venue in their Car / Van - perhaps now at Honeywell the `Wiring` will be done on a Tablet via a Virtual / Touch program ?
Although I do remember someone on the Course that I was on being picked up for terminating the cores the `Wrong way round` on the terminal screws of a 3 pin plug which was on the power supply cable for the Board - Plug type where the wires actually turn around the terminal screws - not going into holes at the end of the Pins.
So physically wiring up the Controls would still be the best method in My opinion - as that is what people would be doing to wire up the Controls on an actual Heating System - so this is probably still being done on the Controls Course.
Although I am a Heating Engineer and I have never wanted to actually carry out My own Heating Controls wiring I wanted to be able to verify that I did know HOW to wire up the Controls in case I ever had to - that was why I attended the Honeywell Heating Controls course all those Years ago.
Obviously as an Electrician You will find the Course very easy - But If you have not done much Heating Controls wiring I would thoroughly recommend attending one - it will clarify the sequence / operation of the Heating Controls etc. - worth every penny of £40.00 [or More].
I hope that this is of some help in making up your mind whether to attend.
