Hookstop - Superb!

We decided to give the Hookstops a blast this week (ordered from Sibert).

I can't recommend them enough. They make rosemary tile jobs FAR quicker and easier and it gives a much better finish compared to using lead.

Our usual method for rosemary tiled roofs is to use a pantile-style roof hook so that there is enough give in the bracket before any pressure is exerted onto the tile itself (which WILL break it eventually). We then lead the whole tile below - just in case - and then lead over the top of the bracket. We then fill in the tiles afterwards. A good weatherpoof solution but time consuming and it uses a lot of lead.

With the Hookstops, we can use the Redtip roof hooks which fit perfectly on rosemary roofs - previously I haven't been keen to use these hooks as any movement in the panel would put too much stress on the tile below. But with the Hookstops, this isn't an issue.

It works out slightly more expensive than using lead (about £20 on a 40 bracket job for our method) but it definitely leaves a better job.

looks pretty effective. Those look like concrete tiles your on which are quite a bit more robust.Whats the hookstop made of, does it have some give in it to absorb any flex or is it solid. like concrete?Most of our roofs are this type so it's an ongoing problem for us!

The roof is half/half. The one side has old clay reclaimed tiles.

The hookstop is a solid foam. It does have a bit of flex in it.

It's actually UV stable recycled rubber.....it does have a degree of give in it as it's rubber and intended to absorb load but I'm not sure that it would form/mould into the tile's shape though.

We'll use them on all rosemary tile jobs from now on.

Would you say it reduces installation time then? Could you install as easily/quickly as concrete tiles?

Just a tad longer - but literally a couple of extra minutes per bracket, if that.

Edit: in fact, we didn't order the correct bracket which meant we needed to mess around a little bit. But with the right bracket, the job should be just the same as a concrete tile job.

Although we always find steeper pitched roofs take a little longer anyway, which rosemary tiled jobs invariably are.

Think we might have to try out this hook stop tile method then. Looks good and rosemary tiles can be a nightmare to install on.

we've decided to start using these as it ought to stop the annoying breakages under the brackets from standing a little hard on the rails as you're installing the panels, which then cause the install to stop while the bracket is taken up, and tile replaced etc.
