Low insulation reading

Testing a ring earlier and found 0.8M ohm at 250v between (L&N) - E.
This wouldnt be a neon causing this would it as im testing between L N (joined) to E ? I have not yet tested between the three individually.

This low reading is making me hope somethings still connected, there is a digital boiler controller that I suspect is wired into the supply side of a FCU but maybe its not; would this cause a low reading like this ? or anything else to bring back 0.8M ! I tested between (L&N) - E. Thanks all

Unfortunately, you will have to identify every accessory and their circuits, if only to eliminate them from the circuit you are working on.
You may also have to check lights, as sometimes people feed lights from power circuits, especially outside flood lights or inside wall lights.

Squeaky floorboards?
Have someone step on the squeaks while you are testing. If your reading fluctuates, you’ve got a nailed cable.

Could be a squashed cable behind a socket? Live nicked against screw?

Time consuming, but got to be done.

And if all else fails, CCTV supplied from lighting circuit

The lighting is a right old state, tbh the whole house needs rewiring ker-ching

There is something strange happening software wise on the Forum just now. I type a sentance and 10 seconds later I see the keystroke repeated and later still something appears on the screen. By then who knows what random rubbish I've typed .

And the culprit was, an ancient mini florescent in a showpiece cupboard full of plates, plugged in to a hidden socket behind it. Getting better readings now lowest across L/E at 30M, what a result.
