What do regulations state about cables such as T&E and Flex on cable tray etc?

Mechanical protection is only required when there is a risk of damage from external sources.
The cable tray should not be installed in a location that could suffer from mechanical damage.

depends on the use of the factory.a computer repair facility does not pose the same risk of mechanical damage to cables as a foundry. each case must be taken on merit and assessed accordingly.

I don't like putting t&e on tray, but if it meant a substantial cost saving then I would consider it. It would have done so that it didnt look crap. Flex on tray no probs. Like others have said it depends on the environment.

Yes, there are no hard and fast rules for compliance, you need to look at the external influences for each location before selecting a wiring system and suitable containment.

the 1 thing that is a definite no -no is singles on a tray, but i'm sure you know that anyway.

There are plenty of circumstances where singles are installed on tray. Most of my past supply cables from distribution TXs to main switchboards, and sub-mains from main switchboards have been singles run/installed on tray work, ladders and the like!!

Though i doubt you were thinking along those lines when you made the above statement, you were thinking about final circuit singles right?? .. :yesnod:.:icon3:lol!!!

I'm pretty sure he's referring to PVC insulated singles as opposed to PVC insulated PVC sheathed ones for instance.

sorry, engineer. i was referring to single insulated singles of the sort you would use in trunking and conduit.
