Qualifications

Hi there, I am new to this forum, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice?

I finished my apprenticeship last September and have gained the following qualifications:

EAL Level 3 NVQ Diploma in installation and commissioning (electrical)

17th edition

EAL NVQ Level 2 in performing engineering operations

City and guilds 2330 level 2 in installation ( building and structures)

Just wanted to know where I would stand with these qualifications as regards to status of electrician?

Id assume EAL is the new city n guilds?? If so, Congratulations you are aqualified electrician!!

Not bad....just experience now, to become the finished article. Plenty of it recommended, too.

I think so yes, the level 3 was site based installation and commissioning work, portfolio based with knowledge questions and our assessor carried out observation jobs on us as well.

I was just wondering about the 2330 level 3 as i don't have this?

Will I still be classed as a qualified electrician with these qualifications?

I don't understand the qualifications here, maybe its just me and the fact i can't keep track these days.

Yeah for some reason didn't do the 2330 level 3, only level 2, but we got put through to the nvq level 3 after the 2330 level 2, not sure where I stand?

I don't honestly no mate. As far as i was aware you needed level2 and level3 for the apprentership to be complete. What were the reasons behind you not doing level3? doesn't make much sense too me, but what do i know lol

Ah right, not too sure why we didn't do it, we just followed the syllabus we were told to do.

At the end of it though, our training manager did say we were now qualified electricians!

Just thought I'd ask for some clarification on here.

before 2357 the whole NVQ was made up of 2330 level 2 and 3, site diary and AM2.

apply for your gold card from JIB. then you'll find out where you're not!

I asked JIB the other day and he said I would need the 2330 level 3 but seeing that it has now been replaced, I'm not sure what to do???

I honestly have no idea, sounds like your college have f'd you over here. If you did the nvql3 not sure why you wouldn't do the 2330level3.

Isit not available anywhere anymore? I know they're trying to get rid of the course but didn't think they had officially wiped it out just yet...

I'm employed currently so don't need the JIB card as not doing contractor work, gonna see what happens!
