hey guys,
i have just started out on my own and have a job to quote for which is a a 4 bedroom house with 4 reception rooms. it has around 40 sockets to install throughout, nothing fancy like gu10s or anything.
i dont want to overquote but at the same time dont want to work for nothing.
are you best working out how many days it will take and give a price on your day rate or give a price per point.
do you guys add a percentage on the materials cost aswell.
could just do with a couple of pointers

thanks

Per point pricing is basically labour + materials divided by how many points.

Personally I price based on the job. Some jobs a per point pricing just will not work.

I would advise you estimate the time it will take to do the job and multiply that by your day rate. Then add materials with a markup of 10%.

Pricing per point will come later with experience.

I normally price per point win on some break even on others
If im not sure i then work it out on hours and mats and price somewhere in between if theres a big differance
It will take you longer than you think if its the 1st one youve done so price worst case just in case
I started my working life on council rewires and we used to do them in a day and half but that repeative houses on a crap price
The last on I did took nearly 3 weeks but I pride myself on not making a mess and saving as much re decorating as poss
