All I can say is, where theres a will theres a bodge, with all our years of EXPERIENCE we should be able to come up with something the customer won,t notice or even say "Oooh that's nice".

The first thing you should do is safely isolate (switch off) this distribution panel. Second is put some appropriate coloured sleeving on the earth wires ( the bare copper coloured ones). The panel at the moment looks lethal. The ground strip as you call it...
Buy a Rottweiler, it sleeps in the car and warns you of any break in. Plus it keeps hold of said suspect till you arrive. Then all you have to do when you get there is say "Eat". Lol.
This may be an odd question, but have you got cruise control fitted and operated from the steering wheel. If so consider the rotary coupler. Yet again had this with a Range Rover. And remember most faults cascade. Faults on Address 01 seem to fit.
I had an almost identical problem on a Discovery 3. It turned out to be a chaffed wire to the front nearside wheel speed sensor. It caused a cascade effect and I got a list of faults as long as your arm. Landrover wanted nearly £2000 to put it right. £25 for the part and a few scuffed knuckles...
