    Industrial lighting circuit

Thanks for the input guys. Lighting track is out of the question. The routing (h section guirders and angle iron) means that swa cable clipped direct looks by far the easiest way of doing it. Had another look today and i like the galv adaptable boxs with a stuffing gland out for the flex drop...

    Industrial lighting circuit

Thanks for the replies guys. No specific IP rating required, fittings and wiring all indoors. I like the powercon connectors that Rockingit linked, will be having a look at those. Think the Greenbrook connectors might be an issue with the HO7RNF cable i had in mind for the drops down from the...

    Industrial lighting circuit

Hi guys I have some industrial lighting circuits to wire in a workshop and was after some fresh ideas/suggestions as to how i could best do this. Have done a few of these before and in the past i have sometimes run radials in SWA cable to single gang socket outlets. The High Bay LED lighting...

3-way switch issues. Can you blow a “switch”?

It is unlikely you have 'blown' the switch and more likely you have got the wiring incorrect. How confident are you that you wired it back up as it was before? Some photo's may help.

    new oven advice needed please

Yeah my bad there........ive been looking at that many CU's from photo's these last few days that i saw 2 rcd's! Thats what you get for being up at 5am with baby in hand! Best ignore my first post which would have been sound advice if there were 2 rcd's.......which there aren't. It is ofcourse...

    new oven advice needed please

That split load Consumer unit hasn't been wired the best in all honesty. It would have been better mixing the lighting and sockets across the 2 RCD's. You could correct this but it makes for more work and can get a little confusing depending on your knowledge level (i have seen someone do...

    SWA as cpc to submain-Suitability, & PC's on RCD's.

Yeah should be able to sort that, seems a bit less of a mess than getting it below ground. I suppose it throws up the question of whether we need a gas safe guy to cap it off considering its disconnected at the other end? Regarding my point on the break in the gas pipe in the main...

It’s possible but where it comes into the office is a concrete floor in a kitchen area so they aren’t going to be keen on that either!

    Cables under bath safety concern

Wouldnt bother with the trunking myself, if you have to yank or tug the cables a bit to get them into place there is a small risk you might damage them and cause problems with the alarm. Honestly mate, stick the side back on the bath and forget about it. There is absolutely no danger whatsoever...

    SWA as cpc to submain-Suitability, & PC's on RCD's.

Hello all. I do apologise for just getting back on this thread.......had a few things going off and only just back to work. The thread has made tremendous reading and i thank all for their contributions. I will try and clarify the situation and if anyone wants to contribute further it would be...

    SWA as cpc to submain-Suitability, & PC's on RCD's.

Yes, from memory, 3 phase supply into warehouse where we have our MET…..35mm bonding to gas, water and steelwork in this building. What looked to be the same gas pipe (could test to confirm I guess) ran underground from warehouse (where it was metered) into the stand alone office. In the...

    SWA as cpc to submain-Suitability, & PC's on RCD's.

It isnt feasible (without a great deal of hassle digging a drive up) to get another cable from the mains intake in the warehouse over to the separate office block. The gas pipe in the office block does run back to the warehouse (underground) so will be 'bonded' to the MET indirectly via being...

    SWA as cpc to submain-Suitability, & PC's on RCD's.

I did the calc myself too and got it well within the required minimum when compared to the cheat sheets i looked at online. Is the conclusion that the setup is compliant therefore when considering the swa as the cpc and also the bonding setup (16mm's in the office, 35mm's in the warehouse? Does...

    SWA as cpc to submain-Suitability, & PC's on RCD's.

Its a BS6346 cable as opose to an XLPE, probably been in service a while. Anyone know if this actually complies with 543.1.1 without me having to remember how to do the calc? I did have a cheat sheet myself but lost it! Zdb at board to be replaced is 0.08 ohms

    SWA as cpc to submain-Suitability, & PC's on RCD's.

The premises has two water supply pipes, one to the warehouse, one to the office. There is no connection between them. Looking back at my photo's it seems the water supply pipe to the office is in plastic tube not metal, the copper pipework is just after the stopcock. Both separately bonded in...
