    Staircase Timer Switch on LEDs

Ive just found the ELPA8 timer switch data sheet and it says a max of 300w LED load. I've got 320 watts. I cant believe its that sensitive that it would not work due to an additional 20 watts.

    Staircase Timer Switch on LEDs

Yes. The issue has only arisen since I changed the lights over.

    Staircase Timer Switch on LEDs

I assume the issue is because the load is to low. The lights will come on if you press the override switch on the timer. If I switch it back to the timer function they work once and then just wont be pressed back on again. It seems as though the timer switch needs a certain load to reset itself.

Can anyone recommend a staircase timer switch that will work with 320w of LEDs? Ive searched on line and come up...

    TT system with No RCD

Thanks Dave. That makes sense. I have never seen a TT Ze lower than around 20ohms so am I to assume the install was incorrect when it was fitted approx 30 years ago?

    TT system with No RCD

Understood, however this installation does not have an RCD and the work I am carrying out, ie replacing a cooker, does not require an RCD. I need to know the max Ze for a TT system without an RCD. Thanks

    TT system with No RCD

Been out to replace an oven on an installation which pre dates the need for RCD's so only has MCB's, the earthing arrangement is TT. As I am only changing the oven this need not be RCD protected but is the maximum Ze still 200ohms?

    Hardwired hairdryer in a bathroom

I have been given a spec for a pretty high end bathroom and the thing that jumped out at me was a hairdryer is to be hard wired into a drawer underneath the sink. Id always though that it was only fixed equipment such as heaters that could be hardwired but having had a scrawl through the regs to...

    Caught on camera

In this months Professional Electrician mag the caught on camera section has a pic of a blown up plug (bottom right) and a comment on loads of stuff running from it and being overloaded. Am I missing something, because surely if it was overloaded the 13amp fuse would blow?
