Just had this through as I’m searching for a new job.

I see sparks rates from £11!

Anyhow...might help a mate local to me.

Nice post mate, but what is the question? by the way I am not being sarcastic.

Just the huge difference in rates I’ve seen recently.

More of an observation and talking point rather than a question.

Oh Okay, yep I see your point.

You want the lowest rates for sparks go work in Wales. I read somewhere wages there are the lowest in the UK.

I've seen 2391 time served sparks wanted £9hr...in Wales when I was working there last year.

And they work for that

And skilled labourer £12hr

It's people like the first example who ruin it for everyone because employment agencies know they can take the p#ss

Its not £17hr, im currently looking for a job and saw that and thought for that money i would not mind being a mate again. Rang them up and its actually £13hr not £17

I've seen plenty of jobs out there offering £150 a day for an Electrical Improver, and then only offer £180 for the sparks. I'm starting to wonder what's the point in getting qualified anymore.

It probably was not a typo in the agency ad...they just want names on their contact list for future work !!
The same as in IT contracting, CV trawlers especially when they get new staff in and give them targets to meet, sledging is the worst as when they say to you that they are forwarding you for an interview and do nothing as they have their people already lined up for the job interview and don't want you to rock the boat.
