i need to study for the 17th edition. i have a red edition but there is now a green version out. can i still use my red book or will i need to buy the green one?

Some of the regs changed "numbers" in the last revision of the regs so I'm afraid to say you'll need to fork out for the latest copy!

I will sell you my green version if you want it, it is a bit tatty but still usable

Thats cause it's been used as it should mate.
Take heed youngsters and use the bloody thing

within the next few months. i want to do the test and inspection course and need to get the 17th edtion first.

I should get a copy of GN3 in that case
