Hi Guys, sorry if posting in the wrong section. I am due to start 2391-52 course soon, and there seems to be from what I have found out, a 3 phase DOL motor circuit that I am to inspect and test. Just wondering with testing continuity of cpc, as far as I can think, need to do cpc -L1,L2,L3 from board up to contactor, then cpc-L1,L2,L3 from contactor to motor and add that to the previous test from board to starter to Get R1+R2 due to there being no continuity through the contactor Have I got that right?
Also with insulation resistance testing, would i need to do a similar process? For example test from board to contactor, then from contactor to motor with cables dis connected from motor? Or am I completely wrong? Sorry for the question, but not done alot with 3 phase motors and just seem to be getting stressed over alot of bits about the course. 🤣🤣
Thanks for any help

You will only need to do R1+R2 for the continuity. You should have some practice sessions so ask if you can wedge the contactor in and ask again on the practical exam. Time will be of a premium to do separate measurements and add them together.
You are correct for the IR and it will probably be a 16A socket not a motor.

Ah ok, thanks westward. Didn't think about asking about wedging in the contactor. I was thinking for a bit of quickness getting those R1+R2 links, so not to have to unscrew and re screw the terminals. Just link line to cpc But you are right. Need to get quicker, as I only have a set time, and obviously in a normal day, can do things in my own time. Just starting to get panicky. I also didn't think that they give you time to practice before hand.
Cheers.👍🏻

When I did it they do the theory then go through the testing in stages from locking off/proving dead (high failure rate for doing this wrong), dead tests, live and functional tests. You should get some practice time doing each aspect.
They should show you the economic way of doing it as they do not want you to fail. Who are you doing it with?

Thanks for yhe reply.
I am going with a company called PTT. Its a 5 day course. They sent an email with revision material that goes through the tests but not masive detail about the circuits being tested, just a generic view 9f the tests, which made me think they don't go through testing?

I can't speak for PTT but I would have thought there will be some testing practice. I see the course is five days does this incorporate the exams because that will be tight. I would be asking them.

I believe that it is incorporated into the 5 days. But will double check. Thanks.
