Nothing wrong spurring off a ring circuit at the MCB/RCBO providing all the usual conditions are met. It tends to be lighting circuits/arrangements where you will see more than one conductor is found leaving the protective device, and more often than not in a domestic installation, that second conductor will be to provide a supply for a ELV doorbell transformer...

In many or most cases, yes it would be considered bad practice, but not in all cases!!
