I have just bought a new cooker hob which has 4 wires however my connection points only has 3 connectors do I connect 2 of these wires together in order for it to function properly or would I need to buy a new connection point with 4 pins on. I will more than likely have to get an electrician in but if there is a new part required I would need to purchase it beforehand thanks

Call an Electrician is your best option, what voltage is your new hob rated at?

check instructions what make is it and can you post a photo some hobs have copper links for the live you usely have to remove the four wires as the are normally there for factory testing,

There is a blue and white wire connected together a yellow and green a black and a brown one also but I've just found out that the actual cooker connection is no longer live and I only have an actual plug socket beside it
time to call an electrician. whereabouts are you? a member maybe close.
