Hi All...

i have a little question...

We have Aluminium DC cables connecting onto Copper Busbars, but we car starting to get burning/galvanic oxidation. (the Large combiners are outside in metal cabinets so easily get moisture inside)

But some of it is due to the odd poor connection (lugs not tight enough on the cable or incorrect size of lug used) from install! But if i replace them, i want to do it right the first time.

I have looked at using bi-metal lugs, but they are stupidly expensive!

If i was to use a Aluminium Lug, with Anti-Corrosive Zinc Paste between it and the copper Busbar and stainless steel Bolts/locking washers will this help stop the corrosion? Due to the high DC voltage every connection has to be perfect!

Any thoughts?

thank you!

I'd use normal copper lugs that are coated.

What DC voltages / currents are you dealing with and what sized aluminum cables? I know bi-metal lugs are expensive but how many are you talking about? You can also use a cupal washer between the aluminium lug and the copper bar but they're also not cheap so antioxidant paste might be preferable on the contact faces.
