Hi
Never had this situation before,I'm changing a csu in a property,TT,no probs.

The main house has a 10mm oil pipe feeding an AGA and a boiler ( I can only gain access to the aga pipe),this is being fed from one oil tank, the second oil tank feeds another boiler at the other end of the house.
The property was split in two some years back for a grandparent hence two oil supplies.

The tanks are situated in the garage of an out building which has its own supply via a Henley block at the main house intake point.

Question; Can I bond both oil pipes feeding the main house at the secondary csu,out building MET,as the pipes are 15mm,or do I have to try and get a bond where it enters the main house, where the pipe is only 10mm,and would probably flatten if I put a normal strap on it.
Has anyone had this problem,I have heard of someone using an micc P clip to bond a 10 mm oil pipe.
Any help would be appreciated
cheers

Ignore that just lifted this from the oftec web site. Every days a school day.

Oil supply pipes should be provided with a main protective bonding conductor in accordancewith BS 7671:2008. Regulation 544.1.2 states the connection to services should be made asnear as practicable to the point of entry of that service into the premises. When the oil supplypipe is provided, the main protective bonding conductor should be installed from theconsumer’s main earthing terminal and connected as close as is practicable to the point ofentry of the building by means of an earth clamp to BS 951. Some earth clampsmanufactured to BS 951 have different colour codings, which indicate if they are suitable forthe environmental conditions where it is to be located. Earth clamps marked with a blue orgreen stripe are suitable for all conditions, including corrosive and humid atmospheres.

Cheers for that.
I did have a feeling it was the same reg for an oil pipe, the two supplies from two different tanks threw me,any ideas for a bonding strap that would fit that size of pipe (10mm) ?

I know the feed to the aga definitely needs bonding as I've tested that and got a reading of 0.01 ohms, the other two feeds might be sleeved so your right they might not need to be bonded.
my only concern is if the sleeping breaks down over time.
thanks for the advice guys.

Hi chaps
Done the job today,a 951 was ok,I got the external blue type, and it worked a treat, took it easy tightening it though.
test all pipes and good continuity, below 0.01 ohms.
happy days

Did you disconnect the main earth from the CU and test directly to it i.e. with everything isolated from true earth?

It sounds like you have a "fortuitous connection" to the MET via one or more cpcs or heating pipes. This is one of those situations where adding a main bond will (electrically) make no difference (probably measure > 0.01 ohms back to the MET), as it sounds like it is effectively bonded via the water pipes. The difficulty is ensuring that the pipe remains in place, as it won't be obvious that it is used as a bonding conductor.
