Morning all!

carrying out an eicr in a church, and just wanting some clarification regarding r2 readings on heating pipework throughout the building?

thanks in advance!

Not sure what you mean r2 readings, are you trying to find out if the rads require bonding?

I suppose you mean R2, as r2 is what you would measure when carrying out end to end on a RFC.

Your question lacks some info to be honest. Are these pipes extraneous?

Think that is what the op is trying to find out although I have been known to be wrong

Sorry for the lack of info.....

i have done R2 readings on various pipes and rads around the building, and have been getting readings up to 0.83 ohms, when I'd have been expecting much lower.

In view of the fact that you don't test every pipe around a house, and this is just a 'big house' what is the general consensus?

Why are you expecting much lower?

What is the length and resistivity of the copper pipe?

Have you nulled your meter leads/wander lead?

I think I'm getting mixed up with expecting readings in line with main bonding continuity readings?

I have no idea!

Yes, I have.

It's not really just a big house, it's more normally a large open space where a large number of members of the general public can be expected to be which is often a listed historical building and with an increased fire risk.

Could be really old iron pipework and probably rusted to an extent on the threaded joints too. All assumptions of course but in my mind the readings are fine.
