Nothing other than a total lack of understanding of the purpose of equipetential bonding. They probably whacked the rod straight through the incoming gas pipe for a better RA!

Yes loads like that around here, all done by BG contractors when doing boiler changes.

They haven't sealed the gap between the gas pipe and the sleeve, or between the sleeve and the wall.
So that's a fail on the current gas regs too!

yes and no (grey area)

you need to seal the hole if the hole is inside the meter box, if the hole is outside the meter box and no unless its medium pressure gas pipework and all pipework requires a protective sleeve anyway

If the incoming gas main is plastic then the gas pipe may not even be extraneous without the earth rod attached.

Dependant on what gas appliances are being fed.
There's also a good chance that gas pipe is under sized.

Gas pipe undersized? Surely that's dependant on the run as well. 22mm is normally five for most domestic situations isn't it?
