Discuss BPT VA/200 Problem in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
So I don't normally get involved in entry control however customers BPT VA/200 is no longer ringing on the handset side. No obvious loose connections in the intercom or handset however the controller looks like something has gone pop.
Any quick fault finding tips for the BPT VA/200 or shall I just hand it over to a specialist?

Obviously not
Can't help I'm afraid, but I would say that the accumulated sooty deposit above, and yellowing of the plastic, look to me like it's due to long term use in a slightly dirty atmosphere. The data sheet shows the mains power consumption as 60 watts, which is quite a bit of heat to dissipate, so no surprise being so close to the ceiling it looks like that.
Clearly there's a fault, but I don't think that is evidence of something "going pop" ?
