Has anyone connected an swa gland to the bottom of a BG metal CU, and if so, is there plenty of room for the cables underneath the MCB/RCBO's?
Thanks in advance :)

The removable bus bar cover that slides in the bottom might be the only issue, but the breakers sit high off the bottom so plenty or room to put on 20-32mm lock ring on the swa clamp

G if there isn't enough room could always fit the gland via a coupling and a bush, then fit the banjo between outside the CU between the coupling and the plate.

Unfortunately this way you can't use an earth nut, but this way was done a long time before such luxuries

Thanks Malcolm. Coming originally from an industrial background I'm happy drilling a 6mm for a banjo screw and flying a lead to the earth terminals. Good idea re the coupling if room is a problem, I still have some galv 20mm couplers in the garage somewhere :)

Just wondered if anyone had used the metal GE board and what the spacing underneath was like.

No problems G, we always used couplings and bushes for MICC but that really was more to do with damaging the pot if the room was tight. especially going into accessories where you were pulling faceplates off and folding cables back into a box

Using them for SWA was just how I was taught in the good old days when money wasn't the only object and it was useful if it was snug

That's one thing I miss about industry.... You state what you need to do a job, and you get it. None of this "what the customer is willing to spend" lark :)
