Cad software

Hi all

I need to put the location of electrical accessories on to a cad format drawing sent to me by my builder.
What's the best straight forward and affordable software.

Autocad I'm guessing is best but expensive.

autocad has many different versions so be careful you select the right version, there are free alternatives but you might end up with errors using them

The drawings off the builder as internal layout I just need to add electrical accessories

Autocad LT is fine for building drawings, latest version will back date to older versions. Cost around £800

and thats why photoshop and autocad are at the top of the list of most pirated software behind windows

whats your budget?

Auto Cad only way...If your stuck I can convert to WMF (for word) of PDF if this would help.

Free and similar to autocad but 2D only.

QCAD hasnt been mentioned.
I run it here on Linux - excellent, as with all CAD programs, it isnt easy to use at first, but when you get the idea behind it, it is great.
£25ish.
Reads and writes to most CAD formats, and keeps the formatting correct. It has a good user support, with bug fixes fixed quickly - the beauty of open source.
