hi all,
i'm actually confuse of the working principals of a STATCOM between power factor correction and voltage regulation. For PF correction,STATCOM supplies reactive power to minimize current drawn from the generator from an inductive load. In a DSTATCOM, reactive power is also injected to reduce the current drawn in turn minimizing the voltage drop on line impedence apparantly taking the role of PF correction. What's the difference? Assuming the DSTATCOM supplying a resistive load, and in a occurence of a voltage sag,how does the DSTATCOM maintain a constant voltage when there is no reactive power involved?
Thanks
