Hi My new extension has 2.5mm T+E cable running to the Hob. The hob needs replacing I have been advised that there should have been a minimum of 4mm cable running to the Hob to comply with part P of the building regs ?
Could you please clarify this for me.
many thanks
Wojtek

T&E should not be used in this case. Heat resistant flex would be my choice. Cross sectional area of the cable depends of the rating of the hob and circuit protective device.

Is the T&E connected directly to the hob?

What circuit is the hob powered from sockets or on it's own circuit and do you know the MCB size for the circuit?

What's the rating of the hob?

Many thanks for your reply'
The hob is a Zanussi Induction hob 13 Amp supply.
it has its own circuit.
not sure about the other things.
Then on the face of it that's fine for the supply to the hob isolator. Most 13a appliances come already flexed, so I'm assuming that's the case here and the flex goes to the isolator. Or are you saying this is 2.5 T&E also.
Whatever, no need for 4mm, and it has nothing to do with part p.

So you have 2.5mm2 t&e from consumer unit to the socket where hob is plug in. All good providing your replacement hob will have the same rating of 13A
