As title suggests, does my work have to comply with current regs? Sound stupid I know, and I understand the work I do needs to be carried out to current 17th Ed, but for example- say I put some down lights into a bathroom, and the fuse board doesn't have an RCD, is it my responsibility to provide an RCD for just my area of work (ie bathroom down lights) or must I ensure that the whole installation is up to current regs, because I am working in the property?
I am using above as example only, so not after a specific answer to this scenario.
To be honest I have it easy as I work in the social housing sector and most properties I work in are up to current standards!

Thanks in advance for any replies!

hi
if its like for like then no cert required just a function test , any alterations modifications to circuits then yes .( so spotlights in bathroom would be certified and registered as a special location ) . hope it helps .

yes. your work has to be to current regs. but you don't have to upgrade parts of the installation that you've not worked on.
