DO WE SLEEVE in the DB

You can change a length of damaged/faulty cable like for like.
What if that length was to the CU, would it be considered a new circuit?
IMO? (wait for some opinions) then will reveal

We can rewire the whole place coz all them lengths are faulty just cant fit a new CU

I’d appreciate your professional views on this question, as I’ve had 2 of the associated electrical bodies quizzed on this.!!!!

ON changing/up grading a DB/Fuse Board/ Consumer Unit..!!!!!!

There are both Blue/Brown & Black/Red.

ALL ‘pre insulation’ and ‘r results’ are good and within required tolerances.!

WHY WHY WHY should the older Black/Red cables within the DB, be SLEEVED with Brown and Blue..????????

If an individual shows only ‘Competency’, they should in NO way be removing the lid of the DB…!!!!

The ONLY ONLY person doing this should have qualification and should therefore KNOW the difference in the colour change etc.

IF you start sleeving the old cables.!!! Isn’t this ADDING possible flammable items within the DB, or adding to the thermal effect of that individual single as you’ve now introduced and added thermal sleeve.

IF a qualified Sparkie doesn’t know the difference between Brown/Blue and Black/Red then should he/she be working.???

If, as I’ve been told, by one of the Electrical Bodies, that sleeving the OLD colours within the DB, should be performed.!!!!

WHY WHY do we have those stickers available to use on the outside of the DB informing that there are different colours within.???????

Am I going mad.????

They do not require sleeving providing they are correctly identified as to their purpose. The two coloured notice is no longer required.
If they are saying to do this within the DB do they advise the same at every accessory.
Are you not some sort of assessor you should be well aware of this.

Always nice to get a second opinion.
