Earth terminal block

I believe this one from RS allows connection to a continuous main conductor, IIRC the bar at the bottom slides out when the terminal is loosened.

Freddo, its actually the large terminal that slides off when its loosened, the only problem with it is there is no provision for fixing it to a back board, may have to use an earth clamp. :yum:

How will the open sided connection help with an awkward route?

A line tap will allow you to connect to an unbroken cable, and be more reliable than that dodgy looking block in your OP
What does this mean? I'm trying to put up a light and have been told there's only 2 wires in the light which means I need a separate earth terminal I bought new chrome light switches, got a so called electrician to change them over, he fiddled about for an hour then said he had to go, he left me with the same light I already had up, didn't even attempt it actually.

The hour was taken up with him changing the light switches from the white to Chrome, but now the light doesn't turn on at all. Never put a light up in my life, I'm going to try, please can you tell me what a seperate earth terminal block is. The instructions say I need one.
Would there already be one or is this something extra I need to buy?

Hi @Daisy90
You'd be better off starting a new thread with some pictures. It's a very different topic to the one this thread is about.
One tip right now - before you try and change the light, focus on getting the switches working again.
