Anyone installed one of these before The Redring Powerstream unvented instantaneous water heater? Friend of mine called me saying his got no hot water checked power coming to unit it's ok there's a little button inside the unit I belive it's the thermal cut out which I reset working ok for week and now it's started again could it be a faulty thermal cutout or heating elements going bad or shall I just tell him you need a new unit any help much appreciated thanks in advance.

If it's an instantaneous water heater it may be tripping to restricted water flow.
I have not installed one of these but some instantaneous heaters have a filter in the water input connection, which can become blocked restricting water flow.
If you are in a hard water area you could have lime scale build up in the boiler.
Or it could be a faulty cut out as you suggested.

think itseclectric is right cheek water flow first bet the filter is blocked with bits that plumber has left in pipes, should have thort of that but as thick as sh"t was thinking you had done that already, should read post properly, if all is clear just ring redring they can delver spare parts to shop front (this is by car only) they can meet you at a pupile toit of your choice or give it to you at the back door

The TCO is not usually faulty, it can be reset by pressing the red button but should only be used occasionally, if the TCO activates regularly then there is a fault which needs correcting.
Most likely cause is an overheated micro switch or a faulty differential pressure switch.
Hope that helps.
