Expanding fire sealant foam.

Whats the best way to use this, I've never used it before, my sparky asked me to fill some holes is the back of a dB.

If you have to use foam I would say extremely carefully as you will be surprised at how much it expands, even when you think it has finished it goes again,

Most don’t see expanding foam as acceptable nowadays and in some cases it is being removed for silicon or cement

If you're going for foam, it's definitely worth using a gun grade foam with a gun rather than the type that comes with a 'plastic straw', you get far more control over the flow.

Ye I've got the gun mate, I thought it would be easier with the foam.

bad idea. use plasticene. (if you don't know what that is, watch Blue Peter).

DNOs use it as a sealant.

Excellent!

If you've not used it before, practise on something else so you can get a feel for how it expands as it cures.

When using an extension tube on the front of the gun be aware that the foam will still expand out of the tube once you've let the trigger go.

With small bits of foam that get on something you didn't mean to, let it cure and then remove it.

If you're working in a confined space and using lots of it, get a fan to push some fresh air in - it gives off fumes.

Be sure to flush your gun out with plenty of cleaner if you don't plan on using it again any time soon.
