Discuss Extension of Washing Machine Power Cable in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

You seriously perform a PAT on a washing machine? While agree they can be moved, they aren't, in the strictest sense, portable appliances.
not relevant. the term PAT test is a misnomer. just to dumb it down for the uneducated. ISITEE covers all appliances connected to an installation by means of a plug/socket or FCU. see ISITEE code of practice. you'll see from the first page a pic of hungry washing machines just waiting to be tested.

Seeing as PATis no longer the correct phraseology, its Now In service Testing and Inspection of Electrical Equipment ISTIEE it doesn't have to be portable to be tested, Portable, Transportable, fixed are all now considered testable, you might want to read the CoP.
Bloody hell, you go away for five minutes and everything has changed!

Every time PAT testing is mentioned anyway I gave you a like on two of your other posts so be grateful your still ahead Camerabroke will be getting the popcorn in at this rate:p:D:)

To keep using the moulded plug that came with the washing machine and avoid changing anything where the cable enters the washing machine or socket positions, I think two inline cable connectors would have to be used, is this a sensible solution? Or just one with a different plug, but would it be safe to use a plug that was not moulded as these don't seem to be something I can find to purchase?

One cable joiner and one plug. There is no sense in using 2 joints. I can't believe you can't find a 13A plug to buy! Where have you tried???

John, as long as the socket outlet has additional 30ma RCD protection there's nothing to worry about, if you get a leak under the sink you'll soon know about it. But if this really bothers you then fit a weatherproof socket.
