Hi.
have a 1999 1.6l that won’t start.
has had an intermittent issue for a year where every so often it will lose power and just about stall then will swiftly recover. Went to start the other day and will crank but not start. Battery is good, cam and crank sensors tested and good. Fuses are good. I’m getting no ignition signal at coil and can not hear the fuel pump engage when turning key on. ECU signal tested and ok. Have swapped out the coil from a donor vehicle and no change.
its almost like I have a broken wire somewhere but I’m unsure where to start testing.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
thanks

Security system issue possibly... Have you plugged in a decent OBD scan tool?
That was where I was going to look next, disconnecting the immobiliser. I had an auto electrician come out, he couldn’t work out what it was so advised me to bring it into his shop so he can put his testing gear on it. I would of thought he would of had this gear on him so now I have to rent a car trailer to get it in to his shop and he said he’s so busy he’s not sure when he’ll be able to look at it.

There are loads of OBD2 scanners available on ebay for around £10. These communicate to an app. on your phone via bluetooth.
They're usually limited to engine faults only, but for the price, well worth having.
One lives in my car all the time, permanently plugged into the diagnostic socket..
