A thought occured to me earlier on and i just wondered if anyone knows the answer to it. If your from say poland or romania and you come to the UK to work, what qualifications would they need?

Its just i find it hard to believe that they have the same qualifications as we have, or jump through the many various hoops as we do

A lot of that labour comes over and are fully qualified in their own counties, some are qualified electrical engineers. In the uk you only need to be ' competent person' so they are free to work here. Unlike say Australia where it is elegal to work without an electrical licence and to get that licence you need to be recognised as a fully trained electrician.

Totally right...some of these(EAST) european guys are properly qualified ENGINEERS in their homelands and well worth their knowledge....Aussie has got it sussed...no major openings for cowboys over there...soon found out...and banished from town...

Thing is that if they now tried to bring it in this country now that you had to be licensed via a UK body then it could fall foul of EU law about free movement of labour.

The major case on this was FIFA/UEFA was trying to make it that league teams in countries had X amount from that nation in the side but was pointed out that it was illegal under EU law with the free movement of labour around EU countries .

Yet another good reason for getting out of the EU all we do is pay pay n send benefits over to Mrs Bolokskoffkie n her 10 weans
