Discuss Fused main switch - tails over 3m in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

A quick question regarding tails and the 3m length.

I need to move a consumer unit, however it will be around 5m from the DNO cutout. Is it acceptable to install a REC2 isolator at the meter cabinet, 3m tail length to an accessible position and then a fused main switch, followed by around 2m of additional tails.

There's no room in the meter cabinet to install the fused switch, only a REC2 will for there due to the configuration of the cabinet and smart meter.

Thanks,

Dw

Honestly? for the sake of 2m's I wouldn't lose any sleep over this - assuming that the tails are in good nick and not likely to come to any harm, naturally. Mark it as a departure on your certificate.
