Working on a barn conversion where meter/supply are in a separate building. Will be burying a cable (45m) this week to supply barn.
There may be a requirement for solar panels to be fitted in the future - is there any need to bury an additional cable back to meter/supply for panels or can everything be metered/powered locally?

can be metered locally, but pv works to 1% volt drop along the cable, so best to get an idea of what's likely to be fitted (given the new tariffs probably 30 or 50kW max if 3 phase unless it's a huge barn), then do the cable calcs for that to get something like 1% volt drop to save the cost of another cable being run in in future.
